Ms. Alessandra Schiavone a.k.a. Alessandra De Rossi, the Multi-awarded Filipina-Italian actress was one of the recipients of “Pugliesi nel Mondo” 2011 Edition, an award given to outstanding citizens born in or originated from the Italian region of Puglia, organized by the Associazione Internazionale Pugliesi nel Mondo.
Ms. De Rossi’s mother, Nenita Tiotangco, a Filipina, is married to an Italian, Mr. Luigi Schiavone from Martano, Puglia.
The awarding ceremonies were held last 17 December 2011 at Bari, the capital of Puglia region. 23 out of the 32 Pugliesi who won the prestigious award, attended this year’s ceremonies to personally receive the award. The ceremonies were hosted by Italian journalist Donatella Azzone and Italian Actor Beppe Convertini.
The Vice Mayor of Martano, Mr. Stefano Gallo, together with the Philippine Embassy’s Cultural Officer Charisma Coros-Pineda, were invited to present the award to Ms. de Rossi. Ms. De Rossi’s family also attended the ceremonies.
H.E. Ambassador Virgilio A. Reyes, Jr., through Ms. Coros-Pineda, expressed his sincerest appreciation to the Associazione Internazionale Pugliesi nel Mondo for honoring the renowned and multi-awarded Filipina actress, Ms. De Rossi, as an outstanding offspring of Puglia.
Ambassador Reyes also extended its congratulations to Ms. De Rossi for bringing recognition to the Philippines.
At the age of 16, Ms. De Rossi won the FAMAS Awards’ Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie Azucena. (Phil. Embassy Rome)
