MEDICAL AND DENTAL MISSION FOR FILCOMS IN MILAN

altMilan – The Philippine Consulate General in Milan, together with its Labor and OWWA offices, and in cooperation with the Philippine Nurses Association in Milan (TPNAM) conducted a free Medical and Dental Mission last Thursday, 23 February 2012, from 2 to 6 pm at the consulate premises. About a hundred Filipinos came to the consulate to avail of the health services offered which included hypertension and blood tests, ECG and dental checkup.

TPNAM is a group of male and female nurses, who graduated and licensed from the Philippines, but are now residents of Milan. It is led by those who have obtained Italian licenses through a mandatory exam and who are working in various government and private hospitals around Milan. They brought along Italian doctor-friends of theirs to enhance the medical services.  The Italian doctors were available for consultation and diagnosis. Those needing more checkups were immediately referred to appropriate hospitals.

The medical and dental mission is part of the Consulate’s outreach program to the Filipino communities. They are also brought, whenever possible,  to various provinces of northern Italy as part of its mobile consular service.
