Update on Effects of Southwest Monsoon

According to latest reports from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center (NDRRMC), a total of 267,850 families or 1,230,813 persons were affected by the recent tropical storm “Haikui”. Eleven persons have been reported dead.

The Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm "Haikui" located 300 kilometers Northeast of Taiwan brought heavy to intense and frequent rains over Luzon since August 6.  As of August 8, the SW Monsoon will continue to bring heavy rains over Luzon, including Metro Manila and provinces of Ilocos, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and the National Capital Region.  Weather is expected to gradually improve by August 9.
